About Me, the Artist

Art has been in my blood since the fingerpainting in Kindergarten took precedence over any other activity on offer. And it has travelled with me throughout my life.  From the watercolour paintings of the Winnie the Pooh colouring books at Nana's house, onto the Artex fabric paints I chose as a gift over the latest fashion jeans, during my early teenage pencil drawings of famous faces, through my late teen fashion design sketches, and into the art classes I attended when I started working.

These are snatches of memory, which weave a thread from beginning to end, unbroken.  As a homeschooling mother of six, there was not much time for personal exploration, but I grabbed at opportunities to teach art in various forms throughout the years, not only to my own children, but to a number of other families and groups in the homeschooling community.

It has only been this year, since my children transitioned from homeschool into private school, that I picked up my brushes again, and in earnest.  Needing to rediscover myself and where I was headed, I found art was the answer.  It soothed me, stimulated me, inspired me.  I realised that art needed to be a part of my life.  The works on this webpage are the unfolding of that journey.

From the heart.
