Still Life and Landscape

Still life painting, the art of inanimate objects, offers many diverse opportunities for the construction of composition.  The artist is free to set up an interesting display, experimenting with balance, proportion, emphasis, movement and rhythm.  In order to do this, he works with colour, shape, line and texture, placing them in contrast or harmony with the surrounding components for the desired effect.

Landscapes, likewise, offer the opportunity to work with composition, the principles and the elements of art.  Space, in particular, can be explored through landscapes, without neglecting other aspects such as texture, colour, movement and rhythm.

My love of colour and texture are evident, I think, in my works below.  These paintings show my passage into the learning of new techniques, and represent the doorway into a new and intriguing journey.  I hope you enjoy the trip with me.
